Polyceramoplast™ PE1000, PE2000, and PE9000 are manufactured as sheets and rods/bars from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with a molecular weight ranging from 5 to 9 million g/mol.
The material properties directly depend on the molecular weight: PE1000 has a molecular weight of approximately 4.5–5 million g/mol. PE9000 is about 9 million g/mol. PE1000 and PE2000 are identical materials, the difference in labeling is solely due to the naming conventions of different European manufacturers.
Density is about 0.94 g/cm³. The operating temperature range is -260°C ~ +80 °C. The coefficient of friction is about 0.15, anti-adhesion rating is 4/10, and wear resistance is 3/10 (according to the internal scale of GELAR ). The material is characterized by high impact toughness, chemical resistance, and extremely high crack resistance.
Standard sheets are available in natural and black colors, but can be custom-colored according to the RAL scale upon request. Black sheets are additionally modified with light stabilizers for outdoor use. They can also be produced in an anti-static version.
The primary application is as equipment lining to prevent the adhesion and freezing of bulk materials under low abrasive load, as well as for manufacturing parts via mechanical machining.
